Catherine Larouche
“For me, it’s all about art. Art has invaded my days and my perception of the world. By the flavors of my cuisine, by the choice of my clothes, by the emotion of my photos. I paint, I draw. Sometimes from morning to night. As a call of the soul, in an excess of passion and creation”. Catherine has a style of her own. Juggling between the real and the abstract, she paints according to her desires, emotions and feelings. She prefers to be led by what she feels rather than adhere to a style that would kill her creativity.
Her paintings are filled with energy, explosion. The work must have a soul and a history in itself. “I’ve never painted just to paint. I throw away my emotions, my joys, my anger and my rage. Each work is a different part of me. These are the pieces of a huge puzzle, my life and my feelings.” She experiments with vibrant and large-scale multimedia works, incorporating different mediums and textures.
Her work is sometimes gentle, sometimes provocative, and for the most part, enigmatic and filled with mystery. This talented artist has been painting and drawing since childhood. By the age of 13, she was already drawing amazing realistic portraits and winning several competitions and prizes. “I realized, at a very young age, that when I drew comics, cars and even portraits, I had something different. From that day on, I knew I wanted to live this passion.” Catherine has won various awards and received numerous accolades around the world, including Montreal, Vancouver, California, Hawaii, Italy and even Japan. Her art has also appeared in various international magazines and some of her drawings were used in the official advertising of the PGA World Championship a few years ago. She has the chance to work and meet some of the most famous people around the world.
“If you could say it in words, there would be no reason to paint.” – Edward Hopper
